Hickory Smoked Music Festival 09


 

Tioga County Council on the Arts regrets to announce that the Ducks “Chickened Out” at the Duck Derby and refused to take a “swan dive” into the cold, swift waters of the Susquehanna River!! MaMa Duck would not let her ducklings take the plunge, but the public can still take the plunge at a chance to possibly win some “cold cash”!  Please call the Arts Council at 687-0785 for your opportunity to buy a duck to enter the race to the museum.  First Place will win $250, Second Place and Third Place win $100 each and the next five duckies to cross the finish line win $50 each.  The date of the Duck Derby has yet to be rescheduled.  Please call the Arts Council or keep checking our website  to learn when the event will take place.

The beautiful watercolors of Bill Johnson will be on display in the ArtSpace Gallery until July 31st.  We are at 179 Front St. Owego and are open 9-5.

Bill resides in Spencer, NY during the
summer and Englewood, FL during the winter months.  He is presently studying under Max Muller and Michael White.  He has attended workshops with Helga Flowers, Ingrid Lediler, Carlo DiNapoli, Douglas Teller and Dimitry Zhuravley.  Bill enters 6-8 exhibits a year in Florida and New York.  His next one-man show will be in December at the Ringling College of Art and Design located in Engelwood, FL.  Bill belongs to the following organizations:  Englewood Art Center, Art Center of Sarasota, Tioga County Council on the Arts.  He is a member of Plein Air Sun Coast and a member of Florida Plein Air.

   Join us on August 22, 2009 for the 22nd annual En Plein Air on Courthouse Square juried fine art show and sale.  As in the past the show is free and will feature some of our finest artists in a wonderful fresh air outdoor venue. Entry deadline is August 7, 2009 and the entry fee is $45.00 per artist.

Beautiful Aging Art Exhibit at Untied Hebrew Geriatric Center, New Rochelle, NY
May 8-August 31, 2009.  Two photographs by art photographer
Kim Johnson (who was featured in our ArtSpace Gallery in January '09) will be on display through August 31.  This photograph, depicting Johnson's own baby shoes in the hands of her grandmother, was chosen for the invitation to the Artist's Reception taking place on May 31, 2009.  Johnson was also awarded second place in the juried competition corresponding with the exhibit.

Corning, NY -- The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes (The ARTS) announces the opening of Between Darkness & Light, photography by Elmira artist Kirsten VanAtta.  The exhibit will be on display July 1 - 27, in The Spotlight Gallery @ The ARTS, 32 West Market Street in Corning.  A closing reception will take place on Friday, July 24, 5:00 - 7:00 pm.  The reception is free and open to the public.

USAF  Liberty Jazz Band

TCCA is proud to present the USAF Jazz Band of Liberty performing in Waverly on August 27, 2009!

From the swingin’ sounds of Glenn Miller to the best of contemporary jazz, the United States Air Force Liberty Big Band plays it all with style and sophistication. This stellar ensemble has been entertaining audiences throughout the Northeast for more than a quarter century. Made up of  outstanding musicians from around the country, the Liberty Jazz Band takes pride in preserving the heritage of America’s true art form -- jazz. One of the few traveling big bands still around, the Liberty Jazz Band regularly performs for audiences throughout New England, New York and New Jersey.

29th Annual Home Tour & Auction

The 29th Annual Home Tour and Auction will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The afternoon tour 1:00-4:00 PM.  The evening tour 6:00-8:00 PM followed by an auction at 8:30 PM at the Elks Lodge, 223 Front Street, Owego, NY.  Tour beautiful historic Owego homes.  Light refreshments at homes on both tours.

Afternoon Tour: $15.00
Evening Tour & Auction: $20.00
MC/Visa accepted.  

An evening of art, antiques, and delectable desserts at the Auction following the evening tour.
