Creative Symposium Series Event # 2: Stepping Stones: Creative Career Building

  • Cloud Croft Studios - Schoolhouse 1003 Sanford Road Owego, NY, 13827 United States (map)

Tioga Arts Council (TAC) is proud to present the ‘Creative Symposium’, a series of 6 Professional Development and Creative Networking events through out 2024. This series was made possible by a grant from NYSCA. It is free and open to all creatives, artist, writers - at any stage of their creative career. Our second event will be on Saturday April 20, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Cloud Croft Studios Schoolhouse in Owego.

We are thrilled to have local artist, Anna Warfield, join us to discuss 'Stepping Stones: Creative Career Building'

Often the best place to start is with folks you already know. Hear from peer artist, Anna Warfield, as they get candid on their artistic journey (hint: it’s not all glitter and rainbows). Then, through examples and group exercises you’ll clearly define your own unique vision for your artistic future, and set realistic goals to get you from where you are to where you want to be. We’ll wrap things up with a resource sharing session that will help build out your foundational knowledge and empower you moving forward.

Artist Bio:Anna Warfield is a soft sculptor and poet based in Binghamton, New York. Her predominantly text-based fiber works engage with the body, re-learning, and communicating identity.

Her solo museum exhibition, "Placid Thoughts From Inside Her Eyelids," is currently on view at the Roberson Museum in Binghamton, NY. She is the recipient of a 2023 NYSCA Individual Artist Support Grant, a 2023 Saltonstall Fellowship and Artist Residency, a 2023 Community Foundation for South Central New York Women's Fund grant, an inaugural BCAC Artist Residency, and a HYPE Award in the Arts from the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce in 2019.

Warfield spoke as a panelist in the 2023 "Text and Techne Conference" at Trinity College, Dublin and has contributed as a guest speaker at NYFA, Cornell University, and Binghamton University. Warfield received a B.F.A. and B.S. in Communication both from Cornell University where her 2018 thesis received the Charles Baskerville Painting Award.
